Stephen Quinn, Psy.D.

Dr. Quinn has over twenty-seven years of experience as a mental health professional in a variety of clinical settings and is the founder and clinical director of Stephen Quinn, Psy.D., and Associates, Inc. Dr. Quinn has provided mental health services in a variety of clinical and community settings, including residential treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, home-based treatment outreach, private consultation, and private practice. Dr. Quinn's clinical experience has provided him extensive experience in treating many psychological disorders, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, reactive attachment disorder, personality disorders, pervasive development disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, family and relationship issues, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and learning disabilities.

Dr. Quinn received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology in Arlington, Virginia. While completing his doctorate, Dr. Quinn served as the assistant director of a home-based treatment agency that served children and families in Fairfax County and as an adjunct faculty member in Psychology at Northern Virginia Community College. He completed his internship in Child, Adolescent, and Adult clinical psychology at The Psychiatric Institute of Washington, where he provided psychological treatment and administered psychological evaluations to patients of all ages.

In his practice, Dr. Quinn provides psychological consultation to individuals, schools, and post-doctoral psychology students seeking licensure in clinical psychology. His clinical focus is on psychological testing of children, adolescents, and adults and providing psychotherapy to individuals of all ages. Dr. Quinn provides psychological consultation services to private schools and public charter schools in the District of Columbia. He has conducted hundreds of psychological evaluations (I.Q., achievement, and social-emotional) on school-aged children (5 to 18 years) and adults. Through this experience, Dr. Quinn has become familiar with the special education system, the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, and strategies to implement when an IEP is developed. Through his years of clinical practice, Dr. Quinn has developed particular expertise in the management of child and adolescent behavioral challenges and the coordination of treatment plans among families, schools, psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers.

Dr. Quinn also provides supervision to individuals who are seeking licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Dr. Quinn is licensed as a clinical psychologist and school psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is licensed as a clinical psychologist in the District of Columbia, and has been a member of the American Psychological Association since 1997. He is a native of Northern Virginia, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Shermayne Moore, Ph.D., NCSP, Resident in School Psychology

Dr. Moore graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. After completing a year-long Postbaccalaureate Fellowship conducting research in the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development at the National Institutes of Health, she went on to complete her Master of Education and Doctor of Philosophy in School Psychology at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA.  She brings more than a decade of experience working in her field in both elementary and secondary school settings, working with students in both public and private schools providing both direct and indirect services.  Her interests and areas of expertise include the following: child psychopathology, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), response to intervention, disproportionality, multicultural counseling, and systems and organizational consultation.  Having led and overseen a northern Virginia school system’s student referral and special education eligibility processes, she is very familiar with the special education process and is passionate about giving parents the information they need in order to advocate for their child.  As a mental health professional, Shermayne loves to see when a student’s myriad ecological systems effectively collaborate to support children that result in improved academic, behavioral, social, and emotional outcomes.  Dr. Moore is a native of Lansdale, PA, a suburb just outside of Philadelphia.  She is a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan and loves a good Philly cheesesteak.  She is a proud mother and in her spare time, enjoys working out, reading, and baking.  Dr. Moore can be reached by email at drmoore@stephenquinnpsydassociates.com.

Monique D. Lewis, PhD Psychology Associate, Specialty Population(s): Children and Adolescents

Monique D. Lewis, PhD is a Psychology Associate who works with children and adolescents across clinical and school-based settings. Dr. Lewis earned a doctorate in School Psychology from Howard University and completed her predoctoral internship with the District of Columbia Public Schools in Washington, DC.  Additionally, Dr. Lewis externed in the Neuropsychology and Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders clinics at Children’s National Medical Center in Rockville, Maryland.  Dr. Lewis has years of experience in private practice and with the District of Columbia Public Schools, administering comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and providing individual and group therapy services. She also has experience with conducting school readiness assessments in the areas of language, literacy, and mathematics. Currently, Dr. Lewis provides school-based treatment and therapy services in the District of Columbia.  In this role, Dr. Lewis provides individual and group therapy to support students' emotional, behavioral, and academic functioning. Additionally, her work emphasizes building coping skills, emotional regulation, and resilience, while fostering positive relationships with students’ families and school staff.  Her research interests include examining child social-psychological behaviors (e.g., anxiety, depression), parent-child peer relationships, and gender differences among middle childhood.  Additionally, Dr. Lewis is committed to advancing mental health literacy within family and youth
populations through consultation and educational programs.

Emily Boyd, MA, Resident in Counseling

Emily Boyd holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Texas Christian University’s College of Science and Engineering. She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University, where she was inducted into the Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic Honor Society.

Emily specializes in working with children (ages 5–10), adolescents (ages 10–18), and young adults (ages 18–29). She provides counseling services in both private practice and DC public school settings, offering compassionate support and evidence-based care tailored to each client’s developmental stage and individual needs.

A native Washingtonian, Emily currently resides in Northern Virginia. Outside of her clinical work, she enjoys playing tennis, baking, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family. She is also an active member of the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association.

Faith Mayhew, M.A.

Faith Mayhew received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from Randolph-Macon College. Ms. Mayhew minored in criminology and spent a year as a voluntary research assistant at Randolph-Macon's Adolescent Development and Juvenile Justice Lab, studying the connection between youth incarceration, suicidal incidences, and familial visitation. Additionally, Ms. Mayhew earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School, where she completed graduate-level clinical externships focused on assessment, case conceptualization, and individual psychotherapy. Currently, Ms. Mayhew is a third-year doctoral student in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School in Washington, DC, where she is receiving advanced training in psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Ms. Mayhew is a member of Psi Chi and the International Honor Society in Psychology and the American Psychological Association (APA). Her interests include working alongside children and adolescents, while tailoring care to specific psychological needs.

Raquel K. Coale, LPC

Raquel Coale is a licensed clinical professional counselor who graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and her master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University as part of the Chi Sigma Iota honors society. Mrs. Coale has eleven years of experience in the human development field and six years of clinical experience working with children and families in school-based programs and in outpatient mental health clinics. Mrs. Coale has worked extensively with at-risk youth and families, adolescent substance abuse, incarceration, and family renewal. Mrs. Coale has vast experience working across many settings and is passionate about providing support to individuals in need. She currently resides in Maryland with her husband and three children.

William C Coale II, LPC

Mr. Coale has over ten years of clinical experience working with a diverse population of adolescents and families. A native Washingtonian, he received his undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, OH and his graduate degree from Argosy University in Arlington, VA. where he was a member of the Chi Sigma Iota Honors Society. Mr. Coale has extensive experience working with oppositional defiant and at risk youth. He has worked in residential settings, the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the DC school system for nearly 20 years. Mr. Coale has also partnered with various social programs in the Montgomery County, MD area to provide counseling services to recently paroled juvenile offenders since 2008. Through his work with these populations Mr. Coale has gained experience treating many issues affecting children such as anxiety disorders, substance abuse disorders, conduct disorders, and issues related to trauma. Mr. Coale is a member of the American Counseling Association and lives in Maryland with his wife and children.

Suzanne Fouche, Psy.S., NCSP, Resident in School Psychology

Mrs. Suzanne Fouche has been working as a mental health professional since 1988 in a variety of clinical settings. Her background includes working with children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities. Mrs. Fouche earned her bachelor's, Master's, and Specialist degrees at Gallaudet University and is fluent in American Sign Language. She previously served as a service coordinator for adults with developmental disabilities in Montgomery County, Maryland, and earned the Advocate of the Year Award. Mrs. Fouche currently works with children and adolescents as a school psychologist providing psychoeducational assessments, psychosocial consultation with teachers and parents, and behavior management. She is familiar with Special Education services and the IEP process and assists parents in understanding and navigating its process. Mrs. Fouche is a native of Northern Virginia, lives with her husband, and has one adult daughter, who is a graduate of Annandale High School.

Gabriel Morrad, Intern

Gabriel Morrad is an intern and mentor at Dr. Quinn and Associates and an alumnus of Arlington County Public Schools (APS). Mr. Morrad recently earned his Associate of Science Degree in Psychology from Northern Virginia Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at George Mason University. He has a background in working with children at Sports Camps as a head counselor. His particular interest is in working with children who present with a wide array of neurodevelopmental disorders. Additionally, Mr. Morrad has an interest in
assisting individuals with transitioning from high school to college, specifically with executive functioning skills (organization, time management and scheduling).
